Christopher Cloos’ efforts towards a more eco-friendly future
At Christopher Cloos, we’re committed to minimizing the negative impact on the environment from our manufacturing and worldwide logistics.
The introduction of the biodegradable Cloos x Brady collection represents our first step towards a more responsible future by focusing on the use of premium sustainable materials, without sacrificing the flair for design, aesthetics and craftsmanship that always have been our core characteristics.
In October 2020, we commissioned our first monthly Sustainability Report. Since then, we have developed a new report at the end of each month to understand our footprint and use it as a benchmark for change.
Our progress and where we are going
By the end of 2020, 15% of the Cloos Collection was made from biodegradable and eco-friendly materials. Since then, we have increasingly focused our efforts on more sustainable operations, and through the first quarter of 2021, we achieved our target of making all lenses, packaging and cases biodegradable.
We are proud to announce that as of April 2021, six out of our eight collections (Paloma and Passable being the exceptions) are now made from biodegradable materials.
As our most recent initiative, we have made every Christopher Cloos shipment 100 % carbon emission compensated. Together with our partner Plastic Change, we have calculated all carbon emissions created during our shipments. We then compensate for them by supporting recognized and certified carbon offset projects.

Finally, a permanent initiative of ours in increasing our commitment to the environment is that we always offer all customers 20 % off their purchase in exchange for handing in a pair of frames. They can be worn and used, and we will accept them – regardless of the brand. We can recycle the materials in our sustainable manufacturing process, thus expanding the life-cycle of each pair of frames sold worldwide.
Overall, we are proud to have completed 85% of our final target of becoming a 100% eco-friendly, sustainable and carbon-neutral company.
Our commitment to sustainability would not have been a reality without the incredible ongoing support from all of our customers and community. Thus, we want to thank all of you for making our initiatives possible – together, we will make a difference.
